Gian Paolo Barbieri
Icons

Thanks to the invaluable cooperation of Studio Barbieri and Sudest57, Tosetti Value is proud to present a selection of the most famous works of Gian Paolo Barbieri, a recognized master in the field of fashion photography.

After having shared the photographs of Elliott Erwitt, Dennis Stock and  Steve McCurry, Prospettive continues its journey through another artist with the ability to perceive reality through his lens.
We go from photo reportages to fashion photography to underscore how the ability to translate an image into an icon is a gift, a sign of excellence regardless of the sphere. The great merit we give these masters of the lens credit for is the ability to guide our perception, to organize our view of the past in fundamental stages and lead it, through the pleasure of the present, towards new and clearer perspectives.

The exhibition in the Family Office spaces is intended as a short journey through the history of  costume from the Sixties to today through the eyes of an author who knew how to work in that magical place where all the arts converge.
The imagery constructed in each shot never appears to be an end in itself, but offers a starting point for gathering references and ideas from the worlds of literature, theatre, art and cinema.    Over the years, Gian Paolo Barbieri has immortalized many fashion and show business icons. Here we find the sophisticated Audrey Hepburn as she appeared on the cover of Vogue in 1969,  the supermodel Veruschka, Vivienne Westwood, and stars of film and dance such as Monica Bellucci, Angelica Huston, Sophia Loren, Maya Plisetskaya, Rudolph Nureyev and Jerry Hall.
In Gian Paolo Barbieri’s work we recognize the visual expression of a philosophy we all share, “the encounter of excellence in different disciplines is an extraordinary driving force for development and enrichment.”
